Pronounced "Ver-may," Gold Vermeil refers to jewelry containing a sterling silver base plated with gold. 

Our vermeil is a thick layer of 18k solid gold on sterling silver. Gold Vermeil is superior to gold-plated or gold-filled jewelry that incorporate cheap, low-quality metals as their base. With proper care, Gold Vermeil jewelry lasts longer.

Traditionally, artisans handcraft Navajo Pearls using sterling silver bench beads. The detailed process of cutting silver disks, hand-shaping the two halves, and fusing them together to form each bead makes them difficult to create. Our artisans mixed these traditional techniques with modern improvements, replacing the traditional yucca string with a durable steel cable and silver chain so that your piece will last for generations.
 
New beads are shiny and polished and will retain their shiny surface when kept buffed. If left unpolished, they develop a natural dark patina around the sides while the natural rubbing of the outer bead polishes the silver to create a beautiful contrast—the iconic look Navajo Pearls are known for.
